Andrew Hendrie
Co Vice Chair of Governors
Andrew has over 35 years of experience in marketing communications and brand management in retail and banking. After retiring, he became a governor to contribute to his local community. Though new to education, Andrew brings valuable leadership and strategic skills. He volunteers with a Crewe-based charity supporting the homeless and enjoys walking, reading, travel, and learning Italian. He values working with the school’s leadership team and seeing children succeed.
Kris Banks
Co Vice Chair of Governors
Professionally, Kris has extensive experience in change management, banking, and risk management, with a proven track record in delivering complex improvements and governance in regulated sectors. This background brings valuable skills in strategic thinking and financial oversight. Kris is also actively involved in disability inclusion and neurodiversity advocacy, offering a unique perspective on inclusive education. As a certified Mental Health First Aider (MHFA England), Kris promotes emotional wellbeing among students and staff, recognizing its importance in academic success and resilience. Kris became a school governor to give back to the community and help shape an inclusive, high-performing educational environment. With a strong belief in equal opportunities for all children, Kris is committed to supporting the school’s strategic direction and oversight.
Grace Johnson
Grace is a project manager at Staffordshire University, where she has worked for seven years. She became a governor to better understand school operations and contribute as a parent. Now with a number of years of governance experience, including at a Stoke-on-Trent primary, Grace enjoys learning about how schools function and supporting staff. She loves family outings, films of all genres, and is deeply connected to the Shavington community.
Kayleigh Goldstraw
Kayleigh is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years in accountancy practice. She is passionate about creating joyful, safe environments where children can thrive. Though new to school governance, she brings strong financial oversight and a commitment to supporting children’s futures. Kayleigh enjoys holidays, theatre outings, and family time. Her daughter attends Shavington Primary, and she is honoured to contribute to the school’s journey.
Simon Newton
Simon recently retired from a career in financial asset management and investment analysis. His roles involved coordinating portfolio managers, legal, audit, and regulatory teams. With extensive corporate governance experience, Simon joined the governing board to help ensure children have the best possible school environment. He enjoys travel, aviation, politics, reading, and music. A recent arrival to the area, Simon is a Parish Councillor in a nearby parish and is eager to contribute to the school and community.
Peter Allen
Peter is a former Headteacher of two primary schools and has served as a Local Authority School Improvement Officer. He brings extensive experience in governance, having worked closely with governing bodies for many years. Peter has also delivered safeguarding training for the High Peak Methodist Church circuit and currently volunteers to support Year 6 pupils weekly. Committed to giving back to the community, he aims to provide support and challenge to Shavington Primary School, drawing on his professional expertise. He looks forward to helping the Headteacher and staff team improve outcomes for all children. His interests include DIY, gardening, travel, and reading.
Governors are appointed by the TLP Governance Committee, under the deferred responsibility from the Board of Trustees.
